Hyderabad, Nov. 18 -- In a groundbreaking medical achievement, Yashoda Hospitals has performed what is claimed, is the world's youngest successful bilateral lobar lung transplant for paraquat-induced pulmonary fibrosis, saving the life of 12-year-old Anurag Sandeep from Peddapalli district.

The rare and complex procedure marks a significant milestone in global organ transplantation.

Anurag, a sixth-grade student, had accidentally consumed paraquat, a highly toxic herbicide known to cause irreversible lung damage. When he was brought to the hospital six months ago, his condition was critical. As his lung function deteriorated rapidly, doctors placed him on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) life support.
