New Delhi, Aug. 6 -- Marking World Breastfeeding Week which is observed from Aug. 1 to 7, NDMC Palika Maternity Hospital organised an awareness campaign to educate expectant and new mothers on the importance of breastfeeding, with doctors and nursing staff conducting counselling sessions and interactive programmes.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Sundeep Kaushik described breastfeeding as "a baby's first vaccine" and stressed that initiating breastfeeding within the first hour of birth and continuing exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months provides complete nutrition, strengthens immunity, supports brain development and fosters a strong mother-child bond.
