Hyderabad, June 9 -- Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said the Telangana government was committed to empowering women economically, socially and politically and announced plans to make women self-help groups owners of up to 3,000 RTC buses in the future.

Addressing a public meeting after flagging off 553 RTC buses operated by Mandal Mahila Samakhyas under the 'Indira Mahila Shakti' initiative at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, the Chief Minister said women were the backbone of the State's economy and agriculture.
