Hyderabad, May 29 -- Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka on Friday said rural women should move beyond being beneficiaries of welfare schemes and emerge as entrepreneur role models with economic independence and self-discipline.

Addressing the launch of an Incubator Programme for growth-oriented rural women-led enterprises at Komaram Bheem Adivasi Bhavan here, the Minister said the State government envisioned women as job creators capable of leading industries and businesses.

"We don't want women to remain job seekers; we want them to become job creators," she said, adding that the government wanted women to own businesses and industries instead of merely holding bank passbooks.
