Los Angeles, Nov. 12 -- The first gold medal of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will be awarded in the women's triathlon, organisers announced Wednesday.

This announcement came with the release of the second version of the LA28 competition schedule, outlining when each medal event will take place across all confirmed sports and venues.

According to the schedule, the women's triathlon will be held on Day 1 in the Venice Beach Zone.

After an absence of over 30 years, China returned to the Summer Olympics in 1984, also held in Los Angeles, and since then, the first gold medals of the following Olympics have all been awarded in shooting.
