Bhubaneswar, Sept. 2 -- Women must have a greater role in the transport sector as drivers, planners, technology professionals and decision-makers, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Usha Padhee, said on Wednesday, stressing that gender mainstreaming must be reflected in the people who deliver public services.
Addressing the Shakti Summit 2026: State WCD Leadership Conclave here on Wednesday, Padhee called for a shift from viewing women merely as beneficiaries of urban mobility programmes to recognising them as active participants in the transport ecosystem.
