New Delhi, March 7 -- Women form the majority of the global hospitality workforce, accounting for 56 per cent of total employment worldwide, according to the latest estimates released by UN Tourism based on 2024 data.

However, the participation of women in the sector varies sharply across regions, with South Asia and the Middle East recording the lowest gender ratios among the tourism regions identified by UN Tourism.

The figures, compiled using modelling and labour statistics in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation, show that while women dominate hospitality employment globally, large regional disparities persist.
