Hisar, Oct. 12 -- Haryana Police have arrested a woman for allegedly demanding Rs 37 lakh from a complainant in exchange for withdrawing or settling a criminal case she had filed against his brother, police said today.
The accused, identified as Shalu alias Chand, originally from Azad Nagar in Hisar and currently residing in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, was arrested by the Civil Lines police following a complaint alleging blackmail and extortion.
According to police, the woman allegedly pressured the complainant to pay Rs 37 lakh as a condition for withdrawing or reaching a compromise in the case registered against his brother.
Acting on the complaint, Civil Lines police registered a case and launched an investigation, which led to her arrest...
