New Delhi, Feb. 5 -- Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda on Thursday made an emotional appeal in the Rajya Sabha, urging the Central Government and leaders across party lines to work towards an amicable and lasting resolution of the long-pending water disputes affecting Karnataka.
Speaking with folded hands, the Janata Dal (Secular) leader said the issue went beyond politics and directly impacted the lives of farmers and citizens facing acute drinking water shortages. He said Karnataka had been suffering for decades due to unresolved inter-state river water disputes and appealed for collective responsibility to address the crisis.
