Puducherry, May 4 -- With multiple post poll surveys projecting victory for the ruling AINRC-led NDA for a second successive term, counting of votes polled in the April 9 elections to elect the 30-member Puducherry Territorial Assembly, began on Monday morning, amid heightened security.

An all time high record of 91.23 per cent of the total 9.53 lakh voters had exercised their franchise in the 1,099 booths in the single phase polling, deciding the fate of total 294 candidates, of which 40 were women.
