Winter pollution: Older diesel vehicles carrying essential goods barred from Delhi; Sonipat added to vehicle curbs

Muskan BhatiaNew Delhi, Sept. 29 -- Ahead of the winter pollution season, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has tightened restrictions on the entry of older goods vehicles into Delhi, including those carrying essential commodities, officials said on Tuesday.

Under the revised measures, when air quality reaches the 'severe' category and Stage III or IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) comes into force, diesel-run BS-IV and older light, medium and heavy goods vehicles will not be allowed to enter Delhi, even if they are carrying essential goods.

"Only vehicles running on clean fuel will be allowed to operate in Delhi," a CAQM official said.
