New Delhi, Jan. 7 -- As the mercury in parts of Delhi stood at nearly 14degC, frigid conditions continued it's grip on residents of Delhi on Wednesday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), "cold day conditions" were recorded in isolated parts of Delhi, with weather stations at Palam and Lodhi Road's maximum temperature standing at 13.9 degC and 16.3 degC, respectively, departing nearly 4.8 and 4.7 degrees appreciably below normal.

IMD officials declare a "cold day" when the minimum temperature falls below 10degC, and the maximum is at least 4.5degC below normal, while a "severe cold day" is classified when the temperature departs 6.5degC or more below normal.
