Luxembourg, June 15 -- Highlighting the "catastrophe unfolding in Palestine," French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on Monday that France and several other EU countries will formally request the European Commission to take all possible measures to prevent the import of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank into Europe.
"Today, along with a number of other countries, we will officially ask the European Commission to do everything possible to prevent imports from illegal settlements in the West Bank. We cannot allow Europe to directly or indirectly support illegal activities through trade that jeopardize the possibility of peace between Israel and Palestine," Barrot added.
