Bhubaneswar, Feb. 10 -- In the latest outbreak of man-elephant conflict, three women were killed and equal numbers injured during noon hours on Tuesday as a wild tusker trampled them to death in forest-side Lochapali village in Odisha's Dhenkanal district, an official said.

The tragic incident occurred when a group of six women had entered the jungle under Sadar forest range to collect fuel wood and minor forest produce for domestic consumption. All of a sudden, a tusker on a rampage came from nowhere and trampled three of the group to death. The victims had gone into the nearby forest to collect minor forest produce.
