Washington, May 1 -- The Trump administration on Friday said the United States is "not at war" with Iran, even as debate grows over whether a 60-day limit on military operations under the War Powers Resolution has expired, raising fresh legal and constitutional questions involving US Congress.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said Congress does not currently need to authorise the operation, arguing there is no active combat. "I don't think we have an active, kinetic military bombing, firing, or anything like that.
