Washington, April 9 -- The White House on Thursday sharply criticised Hollywood actor George Clooney after he condemned President Donald Trump's remarks threatening Iran, with Communications Director Steven Cheung calling the actor a "war criminal" in a sarcastic response.

"The only person committing war crimes is George Clooney for his awful movies and terrible acting ability," Cheung wrote on X, dismissing the actor's criticism.

The exchange follows escalating rhetoric around the U.S.-Iran situation.
