Asansol, July 31 -- After regular blasting operations in coal mines, cracks have appeared in several houses in the surrounding areas near Neelkantha in Andal in West Bengal's West Burdwan district.
Villagers have informed the local police about the issue, and several hundred panicked villagers have left their houses along with furniture and gathered near a field.
Local Ukhra Police Outpost officials started directing residents to leave their houses, using the public address system. Villagers fear that a large parcel of the ground might subside.
The incident occurred in the afternoon today. The affected area is barely 200 metres away from the Bankola collieries of Eastern Coalfields Ltd.
