Kolkata, July 22 -- The West Bengal government has approved a proposal to set up a dedicated police station of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the state, while also clearing a series of land transfers to the BSF and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) for strengthening border security infrastructure.
The decisions were taken at the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, urban development and municipal affairs minister Agnimitra Paul said.
The proposed NIA police station is expected to provide the central anti-terror agency with a dedicated police establishment in West Bengal for carrying out investigations and related legal procedures.
Till date, the investigating agency used the infrastructure of local police units in West Bengal.
