Kolkata, May 30 -- The West Bengal government has decided to install two crore smart prepaid-electricity meters across the state in a phased manner, with government establishments and high-consumption consumers being given priority during the first phase, a union minister said on Saturday.
"We will install 2 crore smart prepaid-electricity meters in Bengal. In the first phase these meters will be installed in government establishments and housing colonies," union Minister of power housing and urban affairs Manohar Lal Khattar said at New Town here.
According to Khattar, the first phase of the initiative will focus on the installation of prepaid smart meters at government offices and establishments.
