Asansol, May 25 -- The West Bengal government plans to set up four Smart Cities in the state, Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul said on Monday.

"For a stronger tomorrow, building more Smart Cities, better infrastructures, improving better living conditions, are the visions of this state government and in this context initially four cities will be developed as Smart Cities," added Paul.

"The state government over the past fifteen years did not take part in Swachh Bharat Mission meetings and seminars. Even though other non-BJP states had participated, the TMC government did not take part and could not become eligible for several central urban development project schemes," said Paul.
