Kolkata, Sept. 3 -- More than 1,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras are now operational across West Bengal, providing generic medicines at substantially lower prices than branded drugs, BJP leader Amit Malviya said, citing data presented by the Centre in the Rajya Sabha.
According to the figures cited by Malviya in a post on X, as many as 1,014 Jan Aushadhi Kendras were functioning in the state as of June 30, 2026. North 24-Parganas has the highest number of such centres at 203, followed by Kolkata with 162. Hooghly and Howrah each have 109 centres.
