Siliguri, Sept. 2 -- West Bengal Police received 31 Bangladeshi nationals, including women and children, from Karnataka Police and brought them to a designated holding centre at English Bazar in Malda late Tuesday night, official sources said.
The group arrived at Malda Town railway station by train at around 11:30 pm and was subsequently escorted by West Bengal Police personnel to the holding centre by bus.
According to sources, the Bangladeshi nationals, including residents of Rajshahi and some from Dhaka, had allegedly entered India without valid documents and were subsequently working in different places in Bangalore. They were detained by Karnataka Police for allegedly lacking valid papers required for their stay in India.
