Kolkata, June 18 -- : The West Bengal government, in coordination with the Centre, is planning to establish two dolphin parks, including one along the Hooghly River, state Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul said on Thursday.

While the exact location of the Waterpark along the Hooghly River is being discussed, the second one will come up at Kanthi in East Midnapore district, the minister said.

According to officials, the dolphin parks are being set up as part of efforts to conserve aquatic biodiversity while promoting eco-tourism.

The government is also mulling the installation of water metres for commercial and industrial establishments to improve monitoring of water usage and strengthen conservation efforts.
