Kolkata, June 22 -- The West Bengal government Monday announced a major employment package in the 2026-27 state budget, unveiling plans to recruit one lakh employees across various government departments.
Presenting the budget in the Assembly, Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta said the large-scale recruitment drive would be one of the key initiatives of the government alongside the announcement of a 20 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees.
According to the budget proposal, special emphasis has been placed on women's empowerment in the recruitment process.
