Kolkata, Sept. 26 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday pledged full government support for cow shelters across the state.
"You saw what happened during Bakri Eid this time. I give you my commitment. As Chief Minister, I give you my commitment: I will not allow it here. I will not allow it (slaughter of cows)," Adhikari said.
Addressing the Ram-Sharad Kothari Pratibha Samman at the National Library here, he urged those working for cow protection to establish more gaushalas, assuring them of government support.
"Come forward. Come forward openly. The atmosphere of fear has disappeared. There is no fear now," he said.
