Kolkata, Aug. 18 -- The West Bengal forest department will increase the monthly pay of forest rangers, beat officers and forest guards from October, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Tuesday.
The monthly pay of forest rangers, beat officers and forest guards will rise by Rs. 5,000, while the allowance for around 1,500 forest assistants will be increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 12,000 a month.
The announcement came as the government launched its wider 'Sabuj Swadhinata' (Green Independence) initiative, under which 50 lakh saplings are being planted across 40,218 villages, towns and cities in a single day.
