Bhubaneswar, July 4 -- Heavy to very heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Odisha on Saturday under the influence of a well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue red, orange and yellow weather warnings across the state.
The IMD has issued a red warning for five districts, an orange warning for eight districts and a yellow warning for the remaining 17 districts, cautioning people about the likelihood of intense rainfall over the next few days.
According to the IMD, the well-marked low-pressure area continues to persist over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts.
