Kolkata, Aug. 28 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has vowed to "clean up" the premier Jadavpur University -- long considered to be a strong Left citadel in the city -- and promised a crackdown on "anti-national forces", alleged drug use and the occupation of hostels by former students.

Addressing a large gathering outside the university's gates, Adhikari said the "nationalist awakening" that he claimed had taken place at campuses including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University, Hyderabad University and Osmania University "will now reach Jadavpur".
