Kolkata, May 4 -- The West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal issued a directive to enforce strict law and order during the election period, warning against victory processions and any form of violence.

Agarwal emphasised that police personnel, district election officers (DEOs), and paramilitary forces must work in coordination to ensure a peaceful environment. He stressed that "full law and order should be maintained".

"No victory processions should be taken out as in some cases they can incite violence in some areas," Agarwal said.

Addressing concerns over deletions in the SIR, another senior Election Commission of India (ECI) official said that this vote was devoid of any dead or displaced voters in Bengal.
