Deoria, June 26 -- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that the start of water transport in the Saryu river will lead to the development of Barhaj.
Addressing a public meeting at Baranv in Barhaj assembly constituency of Deoria district after inaugurating and laying foundation stones of 106 development projects worth Rs 456 crore, the CM said that cargo transport will become cheaper and trade will also increase.
"Barhaj in Deoria district is a historic town. It was known for its trade. Once water transport begins, it will get connectivity via waterways to Ayodhya, Gorakhpur and Patna. Farmers' grains and traders' goods will move easily," he said.
