Varanasi, April 7 -- Hundreds of devotees and tourists visit the Ganga Ghats daily in the religious city of Kashi to visit and bathe. Drowning incidents are common. The Varanasi Police Commissionerate has now taken a significant initiative to ensure the safety of bathers.
On Tuesday, Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal announced that a comprehensive plan has been developed to install water barricades along a three-kilometer stretch along the ghats where a large number of people bathe.
The barricades will have a net beneath them. Furthermore, if someone is in danger of drowning, the net will protect them. This system has already been successfully implemented at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela.
