Chandigarh, Oct. 27 -- Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has alleged that the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is a pre-election exercise by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to benefit the BJP.

In a statement issued today, Warring said the SIR, recently announced for states such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal, will soon be conducted in Punjab as well, which is due for elections in early 2027.

He alleged the revision process was being misused to manipulate voter data and disenfranchise communities unlikely to support the BJP, including Dalits, backward classes, and minorities.
