Amritsar, July 11 -- A dramatic encounter unfolded in Amritsar's Dana Mandi area today when a wanted criminal, identified as Bikramjeet Singh, opened fire at police personnel during a special checking operation. In retaliation, the police returned fire, injuring the suspect in the leg before apprehending him.
According to police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the Amritsar police were conducting routine special checking in the area when Bikramjeet, upon spotting the police, attempted to flee. When officers tried to stop him, he allegedly fired multiple rounds at them. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sakhatar Singh responded swiftly with retaliatory fire, hitting the accused in the leg.
