New Delhi, Sept. 3 -- Former India batter VVS Laxman will take charge of the Indian men's team for the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with regular head coach Gautam Gambhir set to stay back for the ODI series against the West Indies.

The Asian Games will be held from September 19 to October 4, with the men's cricket competition scheduled from September 24 to October 3.

Gambhir will remain with the Indian ODI team for the three-match home series against the West Indies, which begins on September 27. Laxman, who is currently associated with the BCCI's Centre of Excellence, will therefore lead the support staff in Japan.
