Patna, Nov. 8 -- The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday ordered an inquiry into the recovery of a large number of VVPAT slips from a garbage heap in Samastipur district of Bihar, assuring that the integrity of the election process remains unaffected.

The EC said in a release here that it has directed the District Magistrate of Samastipur, Roshan Kushwaha, to visit the site and conduct a detailed probe into the incident. The Commission confirmed that the recovered slips were from a mock poll conducted during the commissioning of EVMs and not from actual voting.
