Vokkaliga seer backs Shivakumar for chief minister
Bengaluru, July 6 -- Leadership tensions within the Karnataka Congress came back into sharp focus today after the influential Rambhapuri Mutt seer, Veera Someshwara Rajadeshikendra Shivacharya, publicly stated that the post of Chief Minister should have been given to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
"Shivakumar, who has strived to bring the Congress to power, will feel fulfilled if he becomes the Chief Minister. This can inspire him to do more work," the seer told reporters at Kodihalli Siddeshwaraswamy Hills in Kanakapura taluk. He added, "Though many are urging his replacement as KPCC president, until he becomes CM, Central leaders cannot ask him to vacate the post. If he is made CM, he may willingly step down as KPCC chief."
