Kolkata, May 11 -- Clearng the decks for the resumption of work over a vital stretch of the elevated New Garia-Airport Metro line, the West Bengal government on Monday granted permission to lift concrete deck segments at the Chingrighata crossing of the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass.

Making the announcement, new Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul said "We have cleared the hurdle at Chingrighata today and work will start soon".

Railway officials earlier said the line, also called the Orange Line or Metro Line 6, could reach Salt Lake Sector V by the end of the year if police grant permission for the lifting of concrete deck segments at Chingrighata. This happens to be one of the city's busiest traffic intersectio...
