Bhubaneswar, May 9 -- The opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) slammed the BJP government in Odisha over the alleged rise in violence, lawlessness and crimes against women in the state.
Addressing a press conference at Shankha Bhawan here, BJD senior vice-president Dr. Lekhashri Samantsinghar alleged that the law and order situation had worsened significantly during the past 10 days, creating fear among the public.
Citing recent incidents, she referred to the alleged rape and attempted murder of a Dalit woman in Dhenkanal, the killing of a pregnant woman in Hinjili in front of her three-year-old daughter, an attempted murder case in Kanas, and the killing of GRP constable Soumya Swain in Balianta.
