Bengaluru, June 5 -- The Congress on Friday approved the candidature of Vinay Karthik for the Karnataka Legislative Council elections, marking a parallel organisational move alongside the high-profile Rajya Sabha nomination filed by party president Mallikarjun Kharge.
In a press release issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), General Secretary K.C. Venugopal said Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved Vinay Karthik as the party's fifth candidate for the ensuing biennial elections to the Karnataka Legislative Council, to be elected by MLAs. The approval, issued on June 5 formally brings Karthik into the party's electoral strategy for the Upper House of the state legislature.
