Bengaluru, July 17 -- BJP Karnataka President Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Friday urged Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to drop the reported proposal to establish Karnataka's second international airport at Kanakapura and instead locate it in Tumakuru, arguing that the project should promote balanced regional development rather than further concentrate infrastructure around Bengaluru.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister, Vijayendra said the decision on the proposed airport would shape Karnataka's economic, industrial and regional development for decades and should therefore be taken after wider consultations in the legislature.
