Bengaluru, July 18 -- Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government over its decision to deploy Pre-University (PU) lecturers to teach Classes 9 and 10 in government high schools, describing the move as "anti-student", "anti-lecturer" and "undemocratic", and demanding its immediate withdrawal.

Referring to a government circular issued to address the shortage of teachers in high schools, Vijayendra alleged that the Congress government had taken a far-reaching decision affecting lakhs of students and thousands of PU lecturers without consulting lecturers, principals, students, parents, educationists or any other stakeholders.
