Bengaluru, Aug. 10 -- Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Monday said his absence from the BJP-JD(S) symbolic padayatra over the proposed Bidadi township was due to a pre-scheduled political engagement and should not be construed as any difference within the opposition camp over the farmers' cause.
Vijayendra said he had spoken to JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy last week and had conveyed his willingness for the BJP and JD(S) to jointly take up the padayatra in support of farmers. Kumaraswamy had responded positively, following which the JD(S) announced the programme and its date, he said.
