Chennai, May 6 -- The coronation of joseph C Vijay as the next Tamil Nadu Chief Minister expected for Thursday (May 7, 2026), now hangs in the balance with Governor V R Arlekar making it clear that he could extend the invite to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) for forming the government only after getting the letter of support for the requisite number of legislators--(118) one more than the half way mark of 117, in the 234-member Assembly.

With doubts lingering over the invite from the Lok Bhavan, the swearing in of 'Vijay Sarkar' could be postponed in all likelihood.
