Belur, July 9 -- In a major security breach at the world-famous Sri Channakeshava Temple in Belur, a videographer hired to record the counting of hundi donations was arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 1.98 lakh from the temple cash during the counting process, police said on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Neelkanth, had been entrusted with filming the counting of offerings to ensure transparency. However, police said he allegedly took advantage of his access to the counting hall and attempted to misappropriate Rs 1.98 lakh from the cash collected from devotees.
