Prithviraj SinghDehradun, Aug. 20 -- Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan today urged officers of the Indian Forest Service to combine modern scientific means of forestry with the traditional wisdom of Indian civilisation for the sustainable growth of forests.

He asked IFS officers to gauge progress and growth in their career by reclaiming forest cover rather than holding higher posts in the system.

Addressing a group of 2025-27 IFS probationers undergoing training at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) in Dehradun on Wednesday, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan said modern forestry enriched with traditional civilisational knowledge will lead to a strong and successful model of forest growth in the country.
