New Delhi, May 29 -- Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar today assumed charge as the 48th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS), bringing with him more than 37 years of distinguished service in the Indian Navy.
After taking over the appointment, the Flag Officer paid tribute to personnel who laid down their lives in service of the nation by laying a floral wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Pune, Vice Admiral Kochhar was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1988. A specialist in Gunnery and Missile Systems, he has held several command, operational and staff assignments during his naval career.
