Ch. Sambhajinagar, April 23 -- An Urdu literary icon and prominent academic figure of Marathwada, Prof Syed Shah Hussain Nahri, passed away on the night of Wednesday, April 22, at the age of 86 marking the end of an era.

He was regarded as an authority on the history of the Urdu language, a distinguished poet, and a mentor to many. He had mastery over multiple poetic forms, with more than 15 books of poetry published to his credit. For the past three to four years, he had been suffering from prolonged illness.
