Pune, July 18 -- Veteran socialist thinker, Gandhian activist and founder of the Youth Revolutionary Dal (YUKRAND), Dr Kumar Saptarshi, passed away on Saturday due to age-related ailments, family sources said. He was 85.
His death marks the loss of one of Maharashtra's prominent socialist thinkers and has dealt a major blow to the state's progressive and social movements.
Born on August 21, 1941, Kumar Ganesh Saptarshi, a medical doctor by profession, completed his science degree from Sir Parashurambhau College (S.P. College) in Pune and obtained an MBBS degree from B.J. Medical College. He later enrolled for a law degree but could not complete it.
