Akola, Aug. 9 -- Veteran social worker Bapusaheb Deshmukh, who devoted his life to preserving and propagating the ideals of Karmayogi Sant Gadge Baba, died following a severe cardiac arrest.

He was also serving as vice-president of the Gadge Baba Mission, Mumbai.

Deshmukh breathed his last at Nagariwadi in Chandur Bazar taluka of Amravati district, a place associated with the final resting site of Sant Gadge Baba.

He had the opportunity to closely interact with Gadge Baba and played an important role in his social reform initiatives.

Deshmukh contributed significantly to Gadge Baba's efforts to uplift the poor and underprivileged through schools, residential schools and dharamshalas established across Maharashtra.
