Mumbai, April 29 -- Veteran journalist Kamal Mishra passed away on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. He was 57.

Mishra had worked as the transport correspondent for several years with English daily Free Press Journal.

He had started his career with Hindi newspapers and worked with various publications.

Mishra was considered one of the finest reporters in Mumbai. He covered the transport beat extensively and was an authority on issues pertaining to the railways, state transport, BEST and taxis.

Several months ago he met with a severe accident while returning to his home in Kalyan from Nashik.
